The Mountain legend of Inhlosane – Brett Ellis… truth or folk lore

Local Legend has it that late at night a half man half Baboon roams these hills searching for his soul mate.
Those that knew the original story those that said they can see. Insist on staying indoors on misty nights especially after a full moon. They say the wild one steals young maidens and precious things thro open windows whilst the weary sleep.
The Sangoma`s throw the bones to protect the locals and to predict the next evil event, or to try to gain some useful insight into the behavior of this half man, half Baboon.
On inquiring as to the Authenticity of this legion I some years ago spent a week hiking in these hills speaking to the local tribal headman, seeking to unfold the mystery of the Ghost of Inhlosane .
Hill2Hill Marathon 2008
I braved the 105 on Sunday . (very cold start and a long muddy slide down the single track from Hilton)
It was a day slightly reminiscent of my days at Potch during basics in 79, I revisited some of the old stuff that used to rent space in my head “Ek kanie meer nie Corporal” it took me all of 9hrs 18 to complete.( even the locals seemed unhappy to venture out of their huts from their warm piles of blankets)
Last yr this was my first ever Mountain bike race and it took me 7hrs 50 , I was really keen on improving my time this year!(Yes I put in a fair amount of training hoping to achieve this!)

For the past year our passion for adventure mountain biking has finally been more than about us guys having fun..Evangelist Duncan Comrie & Motivational speaker Brett Ellis teamed up to race the Sani2C mountain bike challenge (260km), at the end of February 2009.The three day Subaru Sani2C event is one of South Africa’s toughest MTB stage races and attracts teams both locally and internationally.Beginning in the Southern Drakensburg this awesome mountain bike race ends three days later in Scotbourgh.
